DACULA, GA, USA, June 14, 2026 – Get your sneakers ready and mark your calendars! Only 6 weeks left before The Sophia Ruggieri Memorial Foundation’s ‘Sophia’s Stroll’ for Type 1 Diabetes. This year’s event takes place on Saturday, July 25th, 2026.
Held in memory of Sophia Ruggieri, who tragically passed away from complications from Type 1 Diabetes at the age of 23, these strolls can take place anywhere in the world. They can be as simple as taking a stroll with your family in the park or even walking your dog!

Last year’s event raised over $55,000 to help children battling Type 1 Diabetes attend a very special camp in Georgia called Camp Kudzu.The great thing about these strolls is that through a digital platform called Give Lively, individuals can easily join existing fundraising “Teams” or even form new Teams and create their fundraising pages. Last year, Teams were formed and strolls took place in Florida, California, North Carolina, San Diego, Illinois, New Jersey, England, New Zealand, and even on a cruise ship!
